What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid is training that teaches individuals how to recognize the signs of mental health challenges and respond in supportive and practical ways until professional help can be accessed.
How long is the course?
The duration depends on the track you choose: the Essentials course is a 6-hour session, while the full Certification course is 12 hours total.
Is the training certified?
For the Essentials track, you will receive a certificate of completion. For the Certification track, you will be tested to earn your formal certification. Based on your testing results, you will either receive a formal Certification (if passing) or a certificate of participation/attempt.
How much does the course cost?
MHFA Essentials is $250 per person and MHFA Certification is $350 per person. Please note that pricing adjustments can be made upon request for specific groups or organizations.
How do I book a course?

How often are courses offered?
We typically offer one virtual course and one face-to-face course every month. Virtual sessions are held on the third Monday of every month from 9am to 4pm Eastern Time. Face-to-face sessions are held on the fourth Monday of every month from 9am to 4pm at the Monte Carlo Inn - 81 Hart Drive, Barrie.
Will I receive course materials?
Yes. Only after your training is completed will you receive access to a digital manual sent to your email to support your continued learning.
Can I still take the MHFA Standard or MHFA Basic Course?
No, the MHFA Standard and Basic courses are no longer available after March 31, 2026.
Do you offer workplace or group training?
Yes. Private group training is available for organizations, workplaces, schools, and community groups. We typically provide solutions for groups of 8 or more.
Will this course teach me how to diagnose mental health conditions?
No. The course does not train participants to diagnose mental health conditions. Instead, it focuses on the ALGES framework: recognizing warning signs, starting supportive conversations, and providing guidance toward professional support.
